(August 5, 2015)

Are you in charge of the Underground Storage Tanks (USTs) at your site or facility? Have you completed the three year renewal of the Class A, Class B and Class C Operator training at your UST site? TCEQ rules and regulations passed several years ago stated that each UST site must have a Class A, Class B and Class C Operator for each UST facility by August 8, 2012. The rules also stated that re-training for the Class A, Class B and Class C Operators must be performed every three years. Please do not forget about this important required item in your UST program. Tarrant County completed our re-training during July and I will be happy to visit with you about this TCEQ requirement.

The TCEQ has opened the new Brazos Watermaster Office in Waco, Texas on June 1, 2015. The middle and lower Brazos River Basin (from Possum Kingdom Lake to the Gulf Coast) is now under a TCEQ appointed Watermaster. The TCEQ hired Molly Mohler (254-761-3027 or molly.mohler@tceq.texas.gov) to be the Wastermaster for the new program area. The program will work with water right holders to make sure there is no unauthorized removal of water from the river basin.

The TCEQ Water Quality / Stormwater Seminar is scheduled for September 23 and 24, 2015. The seminar will be held at the Double Tree Hotel at 6505 IH35 North, Austin, TX, 78752. Registration is now open on the TCEQ website for this great event. If you register before September 8, 2015 the price will be $100 (after the 8th the price goes to $150). If you have anything to do with the water, wastewater or stormwater in Texas, you must attend this event. It is a great chance to visit with TCEQ staff and get your questions answered in person!!!!!
